The United States has advised its citizens to reconsider travel to Saudi Arabia amid heightened security concerns and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia issued the advisory as the security situation in the kingdom has deteriorated following a series of attacks and security alerts in recent days.
The advisory remains at Level 3: Reconsider Travel, according to US government information.
The warning comes after Saudi authorities issued security alerts in several areas, including Makkah and Jeddah, following attacks attributed to Iran-aligned Houthi forces. The alerts were later lifted without confirmed impacts.
On Tuesday, Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Makkah before it could enter the city’s restricted airspace, according to the Saudi-led coalition.
The Houthis denied targeting Makkah.
The US advisory reflects concerns over the risk of armed conflict and terrorism, as well as possible disruptions to travel and commercial flights.
Washington has previously urged Americans in the region to monitor developments closely and remain prepared for sudden changes in the security environment.
The latest warning comes amid a broader escalation involving Saudi Arabia, Yemen and other regional actors, with attacks also affecting critical infrastructure and energy routes.
