The prosecution has filed formal charges with the International Crimes Tribunal against eight people, including former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Maksud Kamal and Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal, over alleged attacks on DU students during the July-August 2024 movement.
The charges were submitted to the tribunal on Wednesday, September 16.
According to the prosecution, the accused face various allegations over attacks, torture and efforts to suppress the anti-discrimination student movement on the Dhaka University campus during July-August 2024.
The accused also include former Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik.
The prosecution alleges that the accused had direct or indirect involvement in attacks and repression of students during the movement.
It said formal charges were filed based on information and documents gathered during the investigation.
The tribunal will now hear the charges before deciding on the next legal steps.
