Bangladesh will play a bilateral series against Nepal for the first time when the national cricket team travels to Kathmandu for a three-match T20I series in March 2027.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the tour on Wednesday, saying the matches will be played in Kathmandu on March 26, 28 and 30.
The series will be dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in Nepal’s recent devastating floods.
Nepal had recently invited Bangladesh to play the series, with the proposal drawing considerable attention in the country’s cricketing circles. The BCB had earlier indicated that it was positive about the tour before confirming it formally.
The BCB also said it would continue to support the development of cricket in Nepal as part of broader cricketing cooperation between the two countries.
The cooperation will include men’s and women’s team tours, high-performance programmes, training and technical assistance, along with other development initiatives.
Nepal’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, recently met Youth and Sports Minister Aminul Haque before holding a meeting with BCB president Tamim Iqbal. During those discussions, the ambassador invited Bangladesh to play a bilateral cricket series in Nepal.
The upcoming tour is expected to strengthen cricketing ties between the two neighbouring countries while providing Nepal with opportunities to benefit from Bangladesh’s experience in high-performance and technical development.
