The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has temporarily suspended two more officials over alleged corruption-related violations during the 11th and 12th editions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The suspended officials are Abdul Qaiyum Rashed, owner of Chattogram Royals in the 12th BPL, and Amin Khan, who served as operations manager of Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th edition and Chattogram Royals in the 12th.
According to a BCB statement, the allegations followed an investigation by the board’s Integrity Unit. The charges include alleged corrupt activities linked to the BPL, failure to disclose information about corrupt approaches, failure to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations, and obstructing or delaying investigations.
The BCB said Qaiyum has been accused of violating Articles 2.1.1, 2.4.4, 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. The provisions cover improper influence over match results, failure to report corrupt approaches to an anti-corruption officer, and failure to cooperate with investigations.
Amin Khan faces allegations under four anti-corruption provisions. They include attempting to improperly influence the result or course of a match, involvement in fixing or an arrangement to fix a match, assisting or encouraging another player or official to engage in corrupt conduct, and failing to cooperate with an investigation without proper cause.
He is also accused of concealing or destroying information or messages relevant to the investigation, allegedly obstructing or delaying the process.
The two officials have been given 14 days to respond to the allegations in accordance with the applicable rules.
Earlier this month, the BCB announced sanctions against three individuals over corruption-related allegations, including former board director Mokhlesur Rahman.
