The Health Ministry has called on popular content creators to join the government’s efforts to prevent dengue by promoting behavioural change and encouraging people to take practical steps to protect themselves and their communities.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr M A Muhit made the call at a meeting with leading content creators and social media communicators at the ministry’s conference room on Thursday.

Muhit urged the creators to approach the campaign not merely as a professional assignment but as a social responsibility, calling for creative content aimed at helping save lives.

The meeting was part of the government’s ongoing nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign, which places emphasis on public participation and awareness alongside medical treatment. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has also stressed greater public involvement in dengue prevention, including keeping homes and surroundings clean and eliminating stagnant water and mosquito breeding grounds.

At Thursday’s meeting, Muhit said the health system was fully prepared to provide dengue treatment, while around 3,000 doctors were being given refresher training. He also said adequate supplies of saline and hospital beds were being kept ready.

However, the state minister stressed that treatment alone would not be enough to prevent infections and deaths, making behavioural change essential.

“People listen to you attentively,” Muhit told the content creators, urging them to use their reach to encourage people to take direct action, particularly by keeping their homes and surroundings clean.

The Health and Family Welfare Ministry wants to involve popular digital content creators in the dengue campaign to move beyond conventional government publicity and bring about positive changes in public behaviour, officials said.

The meeting also discussed an integrated three-month plan for dengue prevention and public health protection. A specific action plan was finalised, with participating content creators and agencies asked to submit their initial ideas and campaign outlines soon.

The ministry is targeting the first week of October to formally begin disseminating content under the digital campaign.
