Comilla University has declared a general holiday on Sunday (September 20) and suspended all scheduled classes and examinations following the death of Ishayat Shahriar Opritom, son of university teacher Dr Nahida Begum.
The university administration announced the decision in a notice issued on Saturday, declaring Sunday a day of general mourning over Opritom’s death.
All classes and previously scheduled examinations across the university will remain suspended on the day.
The new schedule for the postponed examinations will be announced later by the respective departments, the notice said.
The university authorities expressed deep shock and condolences to the bereaved family and demanded a fair investigation into the incident, along with the swift arrest and exemplary punishment of those responsible.
