The first funeral prayer for Ishrat Shahriar Aprotím, the 13-year-old son of a Comilla University teacher who was found dead after going missing, will be held at 10am Sunday at the university’s central mosque field.
After the funeral, students have called for a protest march at the university’s main gate, demanding justice for Aprotím’s killing and greater public safety.
A second funeral prayer will be held at 11am at the Gandhamati Eidgah Maidan, after which Aprotím will be buried.
The university administration has declared Sunday a day of general mourning, with all classes and scheduled examinations suspended.
Aprotím, a seventh-grade student, went missing on Friday afternoon.
His body was recovered about 21 hours later from an area near Lalmai Hill adjacent to the university.
