Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will deliver his address in Bangla at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam said on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Siam said the speech would focus on Bangladesh’s democratic transition, rule of law and accountability, global peace and security, climate change, sustainable development and economic cooperation.
The prime minister is also expected to address youth and women’s empowerment, education and healthcare, the Rohingya crisis, equitable access to modern technology and reform of the multilateral system.
Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24, during his first visit to the UNGA as prime minister.
