The International Crimes Tribunal has taken cognisance of charges against eight people, including former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal and Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal, over allegations of incitement to attacks on Dhaka University students during the July uprising in 2024.
The tribunal also issued arrest warrants against Maksud Kamal, Zafar Iqbal and other accused who are reportedly absconding.
International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued the order on Sunday, September 20, following a prosecution petition.
