A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death after a man entered her rented home in Gazipur’s Konabari area on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 10:30am in the Ambag Ataur Market area under Konabari Police Station of Gazipur City Corporation.
The deceased was identified as Sanjida Akter, daughter of Shajahan Hawladar of Kotwali area in Barishal.
According to police and local residents, Sanjida was living in a rented house in the area. A young man entered the house in the morning and stabbed her in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the house and found her critically injured. She died on the way to hospital while being taken for treatment.
Police later recovered her body from the scene. The motive behind the killing was not immediately known.
Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Iftekhar Hossain said police were working to identify and arrest the perpetrator.Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway.
