A three-month nationwide digital awareness campaign has been launched to prevent dengue, with Health and Family Welfare State Minister Dr MA Muhit urging citizens, particularly young people and content creators, to actively participate.
In a message issued on Monday, the state minister said dengue could not be fully controlled through administrative measures or insecticide spraying alone, stressing the importance of individual and community awareness.
Dr Muhit, an international public health expert, said the extensive reach of social media could be used to reduce dengue risks significantly by disseminating timely and accurate information.
He particularly called on young people, content creators and social media influencers to join the campaign by producing awareness videos, reels, stories and posts. Many content creators have already joined the initiative in response to the Health Ministry’s call.
Over the next three months, the campaign will disseminate messages online on eliminating Aedes mosquito breeding grounds, clearing stagnant water from containers, recognising early symptoms of dengue and seeking prompt medical treatment.
Citizens have also been urged to keep their homes and workplaces clean to prevent the spread of the disease.
