Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, attended a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump in New York on Tuesday evening for heads of state and government and their spouses attending the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The reception was held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel as part of Trump’s engagements with world leaders during the UN General Assembly.
Tarique Rahman is visiting New York to attend the 81st UNGA, where he is scheduled to deliver his maiden address as Bangladesh’s prime minister on September 24.
The prime minister’s visit includes a series of bilateral and high-level meetings with world leaders and senior officials on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
His wife accompanied him during several official engagements, including a welcome breakfast hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres for world leaders and their spouses.
The reception hosted by Trump was among the key engagements on the prime minister’s first UNGA visit since taking office.
