The government has raised bus and minibus fares by 17 paisa per kilometre on metropolitan, inter-district and long-distance routes following an increase in fuel prices.
The Road Transport and Highways Division of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges issued a gazette notification on Wednesday (September 23) announcing the revised fares.
According to the notification, the fare for buses operating in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas has been increased from Tk 2.53 to Tk 2.70 per passenger per kilometre.
For inter-district and long-distance buses and minibuses, the fare has been raised from Tk 2.23 to Tk 2.40 per passenger per kilometre.
The fare for minibuses operating in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, as well as buses and minibuses operating within the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) area covering Dhaka, Narayanganj, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Gazipur and Manikganj, has also been increased from Tk 2.43 to Tk 2.60 per passenger per kilometre.
The minimum fare for buses and minibuses operating in Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas has been set at Tk 10 and Tk 8, respectively.
