At least 11 people were killed and three others injured when gunmen opened fire inside a house in South Africa’s eastern KwaZulu-Natal province, authorities said.
The attack took place late Tuesday night in the KwaMakhutha township, south of Durban. South African television news channel eNCA reported that a pregnant woman was among those killed.
Ten people died at the scene, while another victim died on the way to hospital.
The attackers entered the residential house at around 11pm local time and opened fire indiscriminately at several people inside, according to reports.
Before fleeing, the gunmen reportedly set fire to a vehicle belonging to the homeowner.
The motive for the attack remains unknown. No arrests have been reported and authorities have yet to identify any suspects.
