Pop superstar Taylor Swift has announced that her new single, “Patient Zero”, will be released on September 25. She made the announcement on social media on Tuesday, ending days of speculation among fans.
Swift said the song would be available for pre-order on her official website for 24 hours. Three collector’s-edition CD versions — the standard, acoustic and piano versions — were also offered through her official store.
The announcement followed a cryptic countdown on Swift’s website and changes to her social media profile, where she replaced the letter “o” with zeros. The clues had fuelled speculation about a possible major announcement.
Swift’s latest studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, was released in 2025. “Patient Zero” is her latest single and will arrive shortly before the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, where she is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors.
Whether the new single is part of a new project or a companion release to The Life of a Showgirl has not been officially confirmed.
