Three killed in Gazipur road crash

Three people were killed and three others seriously injured in a road accident in the Dhirashram area of Gazipur metropolitan city on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 3:30pm when a truck collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw, police said.

The three victims died at the scene following the collision. The injured were rescued and taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.

Police rushed to the scene after the accident and brought the situation under control. The drivers of both the truck and auto-rickshaw were detained in connection with the incident.

Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam confirmed the deaths and said the three injured people were in critical condition.

The identities of the deceased and injured could not immediately be confirmed.

Police were at the scene and legal proceedings were under way, the OC said.
