President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called upon the BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMA and all stakeholders to work together to address the existing challenges facing the country’s garment sector.
“Coordinated initiatives are needed to keep the country’s growing economy moving forward so that all can benefit equally,” he said.
The President made the call when a delegation of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), led by its President Mohammad Hatem, paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.
President’s Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam briefed BSS reporters about the meeting.
The President said the current government is pursuing business-friendly policies in the financial, industrial and business sectors to strengthen the economy, create employment and provide businessmen with opportunities to recover their losses.
He also stressed the need to reduce bank interest rates to ensure the necessary support for sustaining economic growth and increasing investment in the country.
The President urged industrial owners to shift towards alternative energy sources, including solar power, to help address the ongoing energy crisis.
He thanked BKMEA for playing an important role in earning foreign currency for the country.
The President’s Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary were present at the meeting.
