Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with Mark Suzman, CEO of the Gates Foundation, to discuss various areas of cooperation in strengthening Bangladesh’s healthcare system, including expanding public health, child healthcare, and vaccination programmes.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, September 23, at the Hyatt Grand Central Hotel in New York, according to the Prime Minister’s Assistant Press Secretary, AKM Nazmul Haque.
The discussions covered public health, child healthcare, immunisation, affordable vaccines, preventive healthcare, and the modernisation of Bangladesh’s healthcare system.
They also discussed expanding healthcare services at the district and sub-district levels, recruiting and training 100,000 healthcare workers, and creating international employment opportunities for trained healthcare professionals.
The meeting also explored the potential for developing an AI-integrated digital public healthcare system.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister’s Advisers on Finance and Planning Rashed Titumir and Zia Haider, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir, State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin, Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Irene Khan, and other relevant officials.
