Weather: Storms likely across in 11 regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast temporary gusty or squally winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour across 11 regions of the country, including Cox’s Bazar and Patuakhali.

In view of the forecast, the relevant inland river ports have been advised to display Cautionary Signal No. 1. People in coastal and river-port areas, as well as operators of water vessels, have been advised to exercise extra caution.

The special weather warning, issued for inland river ports, was effective from 5:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday (September 24).

According to the Meteorological Department, temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast, reaching speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may affect Jessore, Kushtia, Pabna, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

Small vessels operating on river routes have been advised to proceed with caution. Rainfall in different parts of the country may also cause a slight drop in temperatures.
