Two people have died from dengue across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s total dengue death toll this year to 211. During the same period, 955 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular dengue report released on Friday.
Of the total deaths recorded, 115 occurred in September alone, making it the deadliest month for dengue so far this year.
According to the DGHS, both of the latest fatalities were receiving treatment at hospitals in areas under the two Dhaka city corporations.
A total of 76 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation and 113 in Dhaka South City Corporation. Another 241 patients were admitted to hospitals in other parts of Dhaka Division.
Among the other divisions, 44 patients were admitted in Barishal, 246 in Chattogram, 130 in Khulna, 37 in Mymensingh, 44 in Rangpur and four in Sylhet.
The DGHS said 953 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours.
So far this year, 70,104 people have been hospitalized with dengue, while 64,827 patients have been discharged after treatment.
