SAARC Journalist Forum central President Raju Lama and Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman are set to attend the 18th Bhartiya Patrakarita Mahotsav in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from October 2 to 4.
The three-day journalism festival, organised under the theme “Celebration of the Identity and Dignity of Words”, will bring together journalists, editors, media professionals and representatives of journalist organisations for discussions on the changing landscape of journalism.
The event will be held at Jall Auditorium in Indore and will focus on a range of issues concerning journalism, including the impact of digital transformation on news production and consumption.
A key theme of the 18th edition is “Gen-Z Journalism”, examining how younger generations are influencing journalism, news consumption and communication in the digital era.
The festival is also expected to address the future of journalism, professional responsibility and the changing role of the press amid rapid technological and social changes.
The participation of Lama and Abdur Rahman is expected to bring a broader South Asian perspective to the discussions. Representing the SAARC Journalist Forum, they are scheduled to engage with journalists, editors and media organisations from India and other countries in the region.
Their participation is also expected to provide an opportunity to exchange views on press freedom, journalist safety, professional challenges, regional media cooperation and the future of journalism in South Asia.

The forum’s participation in the Indore festival comes as media organisations across the region face rapid changes driven by digital platforms, artificial intelligence, changing audience behaviour and new forms of news distribution.
The Bhartiya Patrakarita Mahotsav, presented by the State Press Club, Madhya Pradesh, is organised as a platform for journalist organisations and media professionals to discuss contemporary issues affecting the profession.
The 18th edition will take place on October 2, 3 and 4 in Indore.
