Police have arrested four people in connection with the vandalism and looting of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1, where security guards were allegedly held hostage during the attack.

The four were arrested in a raid on Friday night, Shah Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam confirmed on Saturday.

The arrestees are Md Sohel, 22, Md Juwel, 23, Jihad Hasan, 21, and Md Rabbi, 20.

The OC said the four were arrested over their alleged involvement in the attack and had confessed to their involvement. They were sent to court, while police operations to arrest others involved are continuing.

The incident took place around midnight on Thursday at the health centre in Mirpur-1.

According to allegations, more than 200 masked men armed with local weapons entered the facility and held two security guards hostage. They allegedly looted valuable equipment, medicines, vaccines, cash and other items before using heavy machinery to demolish the entire facility, including one permanent and three semi-permanent buildings.

The Radda MCH-FP Centre began operations in Mirpur in 1974 to provide maternal and child healthcare to disadvantaged and low-income residents.

The centre has been providing various services, including child vaccination, child healthcare, reproductive health and family planning services.
