Cumilla: Police detained 254 people suspected of being members of teenage gangs during another anti-teen gang operation across the district.

The arrests were made during a six-hour operation conducted in all 18 police station areas of the district on Saturday night (September 26), from 6pm to midnight.

Cumilla Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Md. Lutfur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday (September 27).

Earlier, on September 23, police detained 624 people on suspicion of involvement in teenage gangs. Following verification, 173 of them were shown arrested and sent to jail, while the rest were released after signing bonds.

Md. Lutfur Rahman said the latest operation was conducted simultaneously by the district’s 18 police stations and the Detective Branch as part of the regular anti-teen gang campaign, following instructions from Superintendent of Police Md. Anisuzzaman.

Police conducted raids at various locations in Cumilla city and across the district, particularly in areas where groups of unruly teenagers have reportedly been causing disturbances.

Senior district police officials directly participated in the operation. Police are now verifying the involvement of those detained in criminal activities and will take necessary legal action accordingly.

The police said such operations will continue regularly to prevent teenagers from becoming involved in criminal activities and to curb juvenile crime in the district.
