Officials and employees of Janata Bank PLC held a human chain in Dhaka on Sunday, demanding quick approval of the bank’s proposed organisational structure and implementation of the specified cut-off dates for promotions.

The demonstration was held in front of Bangladesh Bank in Motijheel, with officials and employees from different levels of the state-owned bank taking part.

Speakers said approval of the bank’s organisational structure has remained pending for a long time, creating complications in promotions and career advancement.

They demanded immediate approval of the proposed organogram and implementation of the designated cut-off dates for promotions.

According to the demands displayed on the banner, they called for cancellation of the coordinated recommendation dated March 3, 2026, and promotions based on the December 31, 2024 cut-off date.

They also demanded quick approval of the proposed organogram and promotions based on the December 31, 2025 cut-off date.

The speakers warned that failure to implement the demands quickly could further increase dissatisfaction among bank officials and employees.

They also urged the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance to intervene and resolve the issues promptly.

Among those who spoke at the demonstration were Motaher Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Towhidur Rahman, Selim Khan, Sumon Sarker, Saidur Rahman, Raju Ahmed and Ashraful Haque.
