A court here today sent six more people to jail in a case filed over the alleged looting, vandalism and demolition of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital’s Mirpur-1 area in the early hours of September 25.

The accused are Shahadat Hossain, Kazi Mokbul Hossain, Shah Alam, Atikur Rahman, Qamrul Islam and Shakil.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order after police produced the six before the court and sought their detention in jail until completion of the investigation.

Earlier, on September 26, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Siddique Azad sent four other accused — Md Sohel, Md Jewel, Md Jihad Hasan and Md Rabbi — to jail in the same case.

According to the case documents, a group of people entered the Radda MCH-FP Centre under Shah Ali Police Station around midnight on September 25, allegedly carrying hammers, sticks and locally made weapons.

The group allegedly used an excavator to demolish a room measuring about 28 feet by 15 feet on the eastern side of the centre. They also allegedly vandalised another room used for providing family planning services and damaged its furniture.

The attackers further damaged the doors and windows of the building housing the centre’s ultrasonography, vaccination and laboratory facilities, according to the case documents.

The documents allege that medicines and other materials were looted from the centre, along with two ultrasonography machines, a generator, two computers, two printers, three refrigerators, three air conditioners and three steel cupboards.
