Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested Shahriar, identified by police as the alleged mastermind behind the attack, vandalism and looting at content creator Salman Muqtadir’s studio.
He was arrested from the Bailey Road area of the capital on Sunday afternoon, DB Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam confirmed in the evening.
Shahriar is the prime accused in a case filed by New Guinea Properties over the incident.
The attack took place late Saturday night at Salman Muqtadir’s studio at New Guinea Properties in the ECB Chattar area. Later that night, Muqtadir posted a video of the vandalism on his verified Facebook page.
In a statement accompanying the video, he made several allegations regarding the incident, including allegations of extortion. The attack and his allegations subsequently drew widespread discussion on social media.
Meanwhile, 200 to 250 masked people reportedly carried out a surprise attack, extensive vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP health centre in Mirpur late Thursday night.
