An eight-minute-50-second video allegedly showing an executive engineer of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) in Lakshmipur seeking Tk2 crore in exchange for signing off on bills and documents has gone viral on Facebook.

In the video, Executive Engineer Nurul Amin is heard telling a person in front of him, “Give me Tk2 crore from Tk5 crore, and I will sign everything.”

In another part of the video, Amin allegedly says that an official referred to as the “AC sir” had agreed to the arrangement and that he would not settle for less than Tk2 crore.

He is also heard saying that if he had to approach the chairman, he would do so, adding that he believed he would be given a suitable posting.

The video also contains a discussion about the cost of a project and alleged embezzlement of project materials. Amin is heard claiming that materials worth Tk30 lakh were required for a Tk3 lakh work order and that the person concerned had allegedly misappropriated materials worth around Tk5 crore.

He then allegedly says, “Give me Tk2 crore from Tk5 crore, and I will sign everything.”

Multiple attempts were made to contact Amin by phone for his comments on the allegations and the video, but he did not answer. He also did not respond to a message sent via WhatsApp.

A visit to his office at around noon on Monday also failed to find him there. An assistant engineer present at the office said Amin had not come to work since morning.
