Measles symptoms claim 3 more lives

Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, while 1,310 new cases of measles and related symptoms were reported during the period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular measles report on Monday.

According to the report, a total of 189,255 people have developed measles-like symptoms across the country since March 15, while 21,308 confirmed measles cases have been recorded during the same period.

The DGHS said 167,469 people with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since March 15. Of them, 160,705 have recovered and returned home.

Over the past 24 hours, two people died from measles-like symptoms in Chattogram Division, while another death was reported in Sylhet Division.

With the latest deaths, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms has risen to 1,099 since March 15. Of the total, 101 deaths were confirmed as measles-related, while 998 were among patients with measles-like symptoms.
