Bangladesh suffered their second consecutive defeat in the FIFA ASEAN Cup, losing 1-0 to Singapore in their second Group A match in Jakarta on Monday.

The defeat leaves Bangladesh without a point from two matches. They had earlier lost 3-0 to Malaysia in their opening game. Singapore, meanwhile, moved to three points after two matches.

Bangladesh coach Thomas Dooley made four changes to the starting XI, bringing in Jamal Bhuiyan, Zidane Yousuf, Shuki Itofusa and Sheikh Morsalin.

Bangladesh started brightly and threatened Singapore’s goal several times in the opening 15 minutes, but they failed to turn their attacks into clear chances. They managed no shot on target in the first half.

Singapore took the lead in the 35th minute. Nur Adam Abdullah sent in a cross from the left, which Harhys Stewart headed past Bangladesh goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan Srabon.

Bangladesh increased the pressure after the break and created a few opportunities. Substitute Fahamedul Islam delivered a cross for Rakib Hossain in the 79th minute, but Singapore goalkeeper denied his header.

Singapore held on to secure the 1-0 victory.

Bangladesh will play their final Group A match against hosts Indonesia on October 1, with kick-off scheduled for 6:30pm Bangladesh time.
