Brazil announce XI with Raphinha as false nine

Brazil have announced their starting XI for their second friendly against Australia, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti making seven changes from the side that drew 1-1 in the first match.

The biggest surprise is Barcelona star Raphinha starting as a “false nine”. He has already been used in a central attacking role for Barcelona this season and has been in excellent form, scoring 14 goals in eight matches.

Endrick, who started the previous game, has been dropped to the bench, with Ryan coming into the attack alongside Raphinha and Vinicius Junior.

There is also a change in midfield, with Santos midfielder Gabriel Bontempo set to make his first start for Brazil’s senior national team. He joins Danilo and Bruno Guimaraes.

Brazil have also made wholesale changes in defence. Otavio will start in goal, with Vanderson, Jair, Gabriel Magalhaes and Mauro Junior forming the back four.

Hugo Souza, Matheuzinho, Marquinhos, Vitor Reis and Douglas Santos, who started the previous match, have all been left out of the starting XI.

The match will kick off at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane at 4pm Bangladesh time on Tuesday.

Brazil XI: Otavio; Vanderson, Jair, Gabriel Magalhaes, Mauro Junior; Danilo, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Bontempo; Ryan, Raphinha, Vinicius Junior.
