Chinese ambassador pays farewell call on defence adviser

Outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a farewell courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at his office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the defence adviser praised Yao Wen for his constructive role and contribution to elevating bilateral and defence relations between Bangladesh and China during his tenure.

He expressed gratitude for China’s continued cooperation in the modernisation of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, strengthening institutional capacity and promoting professional development.

Shamsul Islam also expressed hope that defence cooperation, military training and joint technological initiatives between the two countries would be further expanded and strengthened in the coming days.

Yao Wen described Bangladesh as a trusted friend and an important development and strategic partner of China.

The outgoing ambassador expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support he received from the defence adviser and the Bangladesh Armed Forces during his tenure.

He expressed hope that mutual trust, the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Bangladesh and China would continue to grow in the future.
