Brazil came from behind to beat Australia 4-2 in the second of their FIFA international friendly matches, completing a convincing victory over the Socceroos.
Playing on home soil, Australia briefly stunned the five-time world champions by taking the lead in the match. Brazil, however, responded strongly and turned the game around with an impressive second-half performance to secure a 4-2 victory.
The result gave the Selecao a positive finish to their latest friendly assignment, but the win came at a cost as star forward Raphinha was forced off at half-time with discomfort in his right leg.
Raphinha had been one of Brazil’s key attacking outlets in the opening half and his early departure was a major concern for the team. He did not return for the second half after complaining of discomfort in his right leg.
Despite the setback, Brazil maintained their attacking intensity after the break and produced the goals needed to complete the comeback.
Australia showed considerable resistance against the five-time world champions and managed to take advantage of their opportunities, scoring twice. Brazil, though, gradually regained control and punished gaps in the Australian defence to score four goals.
The friendly was the second meeting between the two sides in this international window and provided Brazil with another opportunity to assess their squad ahead of future competitive commitments.
Brazil’s comeback victory also highlighted the depth of their attacking options, with the team managing to maintain their momentum even after losing Raphinha at half-time.
For Australia, the defeat came despite an encouraging spell in which they managed to put Brazil under pressure and take the lead. However, they were unable to contain Brazil’s response as the South American giants eventually secured a two-goal victory.
The main concern for Brazil now will be the condition of Raphinha, whose right-leg discomfort forced him out of the match at the interval.
