The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the price of furnace oil, widely used in power plants and heavy industries, by nearly Tk 12 per litre.
The price has been increased by Tk 11.92 to Tk 108.78 per litre, according to a notification issued by the BERC on Wednesday (September 30).
The new price will come into effect from 12:00 midnight on Wednesday.
The BERC said the new price was determined under Sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003, following a public hearing and a detailed review based on proposals submitted by the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and oil marketing companies.
