The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled three leaders of its Dhaka North unit over allegations of unethical and anti-organisational activities.
The expelled leaders are Khalil Chowdhury, joint convener of Shah Ali thana BNP; Anwar Hossain, general secretary of the C-Block unit BNP; and Hafizur Rahman Shubhra, a member of Dhaka North BNP.
According to a BNP press release issued on Wednesday night, the three were expelled from all party positions, including their primary membership, over allegations of involvement in unethical activities and actions against the organisation.
The expulsions came as the BNP also dissolved its 51-member Dhaka North city convening committee led by Aminul Haque and Mostafa Zaman.
The party said a new committee would be announced soon.
The BNP and its affiliated organisations also took several other disciplinary measures in Dhaka, with reports saying a total of 14 leaders were expelled from different levels over allegations including indiscipline, anti-organisational activities and unethical conduct.
