A 27-year-old Bangladeshi man was killed in a road accident in Malaysia’s Perak state on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Ujjal Sikdar, eldest son of Kalam Sikdar of Kathiar Gatti village in Gatti Union of Saltha upazila, Faridpur.
The accident occurred around 8pm local time on Friday (October 2) in the Ai Tower Rajayatan area of Perak, according to family members.
Ujjal had returned to Bangladesh on leave about a year and a half ago and got married. After spending some time with his family, he returned to Malaysia to resume work.
News of his death triggered grief in his village, while his wife and family members were left devastated.
Arman Sheikh, a relative and co-worker of Ujjal, said they worked for the same company in Malaysia.
“Ujjal was killed at the scene after being involved in a road accident in the Rajayatan area after work on Friday,” he said.
The bereaved family has appealed to the government and the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia to take steps to bring Ujjal’s body home as soon as possible and arrange his burial with due respect.
