Six more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 2,089 new patients have been hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease across the country.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a press release issued by its Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Sunday.
Of the new patients, 203 were admitted in Barishal division, 334 in Chattogram, 514 outside the city corporations in Dhaka division, 106 in Dhaka North City Corporation and 196 in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Khulna recorded 330 admissions, followed by Rajshahi with 224, Mymensingh 99, Rangpur 83 and Sylhet 10.
With the latest figures, the number of dengue patients hospitalised across the country this year has reached 86,458. So far, 80,347 patients have recovered and been discharged, including 1,865 in the past 24 hours.
The six latest deaths have raised this year’s dengue death toll to 262.
In 2025, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue hospitalisations and 413 deaths. In 2024, 101,214 patients were hospitalised and 575 died.
The country recorded its deadliest dengue outbreak in 2023, when 321,179 patients were hospitalised and 1,705 died.
