Pakistan’s home-match broadcast rights have been sold for Rs 350 million, which is Rs 250 million below the minimum price set by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

State broadcaster Pakistan Television (PTV) was the only bidder in the tender process and has been awarded the rights. The PCB had set the minimum bid at Rs 600 million. The new agreement covers 25 matches.

The PCB had invited bids several days ago, but only PTV participated. Three major broadcasters reportedly owe significant amounts to the board, but they were not barred from taking part in the tender. Despite this, they chose not to bid. The company that previously held most of Pakistan cricket’s broadcast rights also showed no interest.

Several factors may have contributed to the low interest in the tender, including Pakistan’s recent poor performances and limited audience interest in matches against Ireland and Sri Lanka. The PCB also did not allow consortiums to participate, a rule already in place for the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The new deal includes five Tests, 14 ODIs and six T20Is.

Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20Is against Sri Lanka this month, followed by a seven-match tri-nation ODI series involving England. Two Tests against Sri Lanka are scheduled for next month.

In January 2027, Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20Is against Ireland, followed by another seven-match tri-nation ODI series involving Zimbabwe. A Test against Ireland is scheduled for February, followed by two Tests against New Zealand in February and March.

Some reports suggest Zimbabwe may not travel to Pakistan for the tri-nation ODI series due to commercial concerns. The Test against Ireland could also be cancelled. However, the PCB has not officially confirmed either development. Source: Agencies.
