Responding to U.S. President Donald Trump’s call to replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence,” Elon Musk has said his company’s AI division will be renamed from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI.

Musk confirmed the change in a brief reply to a user on X who asked whether SpaceXAI would be renamed SpaceXSI.

“Yes, we will make this change,” Musk replied, without giving a timeline or further details.

Trump last month called for a change in terminology during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, arguing that “super intelligence” was more precise and appropriate than “artificial intelligence.”

He said U.S. government documents would use “super intelligence,” or “SI,” and urged other countries to adopt the terminology.

The Trump administration subsequently formalised procedures related to the terminology change.

Musk’s announcement marks a high-profile endorsement of the approach by one of the world’s leading technology entrepreneurs.

However, Reuters reported that the relevant account name on X had not been changed immediately after Musk’s announcement. SpaceX has also not issued an official statement on the matter.

Earlier this year, Musk merged his AI venture xAI with SpaceX. The combined operation subsequently became known as SpaceXAI.

The planned renaming to SpaceXSI reflects Musk’s decision to align the division’s branding with the terminology promoted by the Trump administration.
