A Bangladeshi worker was killed in a missile strike in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail city on Sunday night, according to his family and local sources.
The deceased was identified as Md Sajib, 25, son of Choton Mia of Bagra village in Shashidal Union under Brahmanpara upazila of Cumilla. He had been working in Jubail for several years.
Sajib was killed at the scene in the missile strike, which took place on Sunday night, October 4, Saudi local time.
Al Amin, a colleague of Sajib who works at the same company in Saudi Arabia, informed his family in Bangladesh about the death over the phone.
News of his death left relatives and residents of Bagra village in shock, while his parents were devastated by the loss.
According to family and local sources, Sajib had gone to Saudi Arabia to support his family financially and build a better future. His relatives have urged the government to take steps to repatriate his body as soon as possible and arrange for his burial in Bangladesh.
Mohammad Mamun, a local Union Parishad member, expressed condolences to the family and said efforts were being made to assist them in completing the necessary government procedures to bring Sajib’s body home.
