A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inspector was killed after being run over by a truck in Khulna city on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Md Fazlur Rahman, 50, a resident of Barandi Fokirhat area in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore district.
The accident occurred at around 7:30pm on Monday (October 5) near the Garrison intersection in the Khan Jahan Ali area of Khulna.
According to police and local sources, Rahman had travelled to Khulna by motorcycle earlier in the day to visit his daughter, who works as a doctor at Khulna City Medical College Hospital. He was returning home in the evening when the accident occurred.
Police said Rahman was passing in front of a latex company near the Garrison intersection when a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction struck him, leaving him critically injured.
Local residents rescued him and rushed him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead shortly after his arrival.
Khan Jahan Ali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Bashar confirmed the incident, saying the CID official succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
