The government has appointed 40 more candidates to the education cadre under the 49th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), according to a notification issued by the Public Administration Ministry on Monday night.

The appointments were made in the second phase following recommendations from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).

The move came days after Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Thursday that a notification would soon be issued for 46 candidates who had been left out of the initial appointment notification for the special education cadre under the 49th special BCS.

Candidates have been waiting for a long time for the completion of the appointment process under the special BCS.

Although appointment notifications were issued in several phases based on BPSC recommendations, the exclusion of some candidates from earlier notifications had sparked concern and discussion among the candidates.

The latest notification appointing 40 additional candidates is part of the continuing recruitment process for the special education cadre. A separate notification appointing 611 candidates was issued last week.

Relevant sources said the posting of the newly appointed candidates would be completed after the necessary formalities and verification procedures.

Officials said merit, qualifications and established rules and regulations were being followed in the recruitment process for government jobs.
