Four more people have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,390 new cases were reported during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the four deaths, two were confirmed measles cases and two involved people who died with measles-like symptoms, the DGHS said in a statement on Wednesday.
The deaths occurred between 8am Tuesday and 8am Wednesday.
Since March 15, a total of 1,140 children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms, including 1,036 deaths among children with measles symptoms and 104 following confirmed measles diagnoses, according to the latest DGHS data.
Of the 1,390 new cases reported in the latest 24-hour period, 1,280 were suspected measles cases and 110 were confirmed cases.
Since March 15, a total of 177,676 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals, of whom 170,473 have recovered and been discharged.
Overall, 200,293 people have developed measles-like symptoms since March 15, while measles has been confirmed in 22,020 cases during the period, the DGHS said.
