Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 528 people and filed 53 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Aktar Hossain disclosed the information on Thursday (October 8).
Of those arrested, 33 were detained by the Ramna division, 67 by Lalbagh, 75 by Wari, 53 by Motijheel, 73 by Tejgaon, 102 by Mirpur, 52 by Gulshan, 63 by Uttara, nine by the Detective Branch (DB) and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
Police also recovered 3.59kg of cannabis, 218 yaba tablets, 2.6 grams of heroin and two knives during the operations.
The seizures also included a bus, nine mobile phones, 2,600 counterfeit revenue stamps, 3,356 non-judicial stamps and Tk1,56,032 in cash.
Police further recovered equipment and materials allegedly used to manufacture counterfeit medicines and cosmetics, including 627 bottles of syrup, 6,000 capsules, 30 face washes, 310 shampoos, 5kg of white powder, 150 empty hygiene-wash packages and bottles, 300 unlabelled syrup bottles, a capsule-filling machine, six capsule-filling components and two labelling moulds.
DMP said the arrests and seizures were made during raids in different police station areas across the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrestees are underway.
