DHAKA: The government has already issued appointment notices for 651 candidates under the 49th Special Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, appointing them to Grade 9 positions. On Thursday (October 8, 2026), the Ministry of Education issued a notice outlining the joining schedule and details of the orientation programme in line with the government’s appointment notifications.
According to the schedule, the newly appointed lecturers must join in person on October 12, 2026, by submitting their joining letters to the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education. They must then attend an eight-day residential orientation programme running until October 19.
The ministry’s notice said a total of 651 candidates—611 appointed through a notification issued on September 30 and another 40 through a notification issued on October 5—had been appointed to entry-level positions in the BCS General Education Cadre.
The appointments are subject to the applicable rules and regulations and carry a salary scale of Tk 44,000 to Tk 105,900 under the National Pay Scale 2026.
The appointment conditions require candidates to undergo foundation training at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre or another institution designated by the government. After completing the training, they must receive professional and specialised training relevant to their respective jobs as determined by the government.
The appointees will serve a two-year probationary period, which the government may extend by up to another two years if necessary. If a candidate is deemed unsuitable for continued employment during the probationary period, they may be dismissed without being given an opportunity to show cause and without consultation with the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, the notice said.
The appointees must also submit a bond on a Tk 300 non-judicial stamp paper along with their joining letters, pledging that neither they nor any member of their family will accept or pay dowry.
The notice further stated that all 651 candidates must report in person on the morning of October 12 to the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division and submit their joining letters for the lecturer posts.
The designated joining venue is the Rural Development Academy (RDA) in Bogura, where the appointees must also participate in the eight-day residential orientation programme from October 12 to 19.
Candidates who fail to join on the specified date will be considered unwilling to take up the positions, and their appointment letters will be deemed cancelled, according to the notice.
