Yemen’s internationally recognised government has claimed that its armed forces carried out more than 2,750 targeted operations against Iran-backed Houthi forces over the past 24 hours, leaving more than 1,400 fighters killed or wounded.
The operations were conducted under the military campaign dubbed “Dawn of Yemen”, which aims to reclaim territories controlled by the Houthi movement, according to a statement published by Yemen’s state news agency Saba.
Military spokesman Colonel Majid Abdullah al-Nazili said the strikes targeted Houthi fortifications, defensive positions, observation posts, artillery positions, weapons and ammunition depots, logistics facilities and military reinforcements across several fronts.
He also claimed that more than 250 military vehicles and pieces of equipment had been destroyed or disabled during the operations.
According to al-Nazili, government ground forces had breached Houthi defensive lines, recaptured strategically important positions and consolidated their gains while continuing to advance in accordance with military plans.
The Yemeni government announced the launch of Operation Dawn of Yemen on Sunday, aiming to regain territory held by the Iran-backed Houthis and restore government control.
However, the casualty figures and claims of military gains have not been independently verified.
