Air Chief opens First Division Hockey League

Chief of Air Staff and Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) President Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan today inaugurated the First Division Hockey League at Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in the capital.

The BHF president expressed optimism about the regular organisation of domestic hockey leagues and thanked the government for taking timely initiatives to advance the country’s sports sector.

He also called on hockey clubs and sponsors to come forward to ensure the continuity of domestic competitions.

Emphasising fair play and discipline, the Air Chief urged players to uphold sporting values before formally declaring the league open.

Players and hockey enthusiasts expressed excitement as domestic league action returned to the field after a lengthy hiatus.

Senior Bangladesh Air Force officials, BHF officials, club representatives and players attended the opening ceremony.

A total of 11 clubs are participating in the competition. They are Wari Club, Hockey Dhaka United, PWD SC, Combined SC, Mukta Bihanga Tarun Sangha, Bachelors SC, Farashganj SC, Shishu Kishore Sangha, Dhaka Wanderers, Rayer Bazar SC and Dhaka Young Star Club.
