Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and Natore-2 lawmaker Advocate Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu has provided Tk 5,000 each to 50 Durga Puja mandaps in Natore municipality on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja.
He distributed the financial assistance from his personal fund at the district BNP office on Saturday noon.
Speaking at the programme, Dulu said religion was a matter of individual belief, but Bangladesh belonged to everyone, irrespective of religious identity.
“Religion belongs to individuals, but Bangladesh belongs to everyone. Muslims, Buddhists, Christians and Hindus, we are all Bangladeshis. Your identity is Bangladeshi. Bangladesh represents your existence, sovereignty and democracy,” he said.
Acting President of Natore Puja Udjapan Parishad Khagendranath Roy, its General Secretary Prasad Kumar Talukdar, district BNP joint conveners Saiful Islam Aftab and Mostafizur Rahman Shaheen, and former Natore municipality mayor Emdadul Haque Al Mamun, among others, attended the programme.
