At least 12 people, including two Bangladeshis, were killed and 309 others injured in an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, according to a Reuters report.

The casualties included four Saudi nationals and one citizen each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt, Reuters reported on Saturday.

The attack marked the third assault on Riyadh’s airport within a week, raising fresh concerns over security and disrupting air travel. Following the latest incident, flights bound for Riyadh were diverted, and airport operations were temporarily suspended.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a senior official of Yemen’s Houthi movement, claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out in response to Saudi strikes in Yemen. He accused Saudi forces of targeting civilian infrastructure.

Al-Bukhaiti said civilian facilities, including airports, seaports, hospitals, markets and halls used for weddings and condolence gatherings, should not be targeted in Yemen or elsewhere.

Saudi officials did not immediately comment on the latest attack, according to the report.

The repeated assaults have also raised concerns about Riyadh’s ambitions to become a global hub for travel and business.

Major international events scheduled in the coming weeks could face disruptions, the report said.
