Sobhana Mostary became the first Bangladeshi woman batter to score a century on Australian soil, smashing her maiden ODI hundred in the second match of the series.
Mostary scored 118 off 134 balls, hitting 18 fours, as Bangladesh posted 220 for six in 50 overs after being reduced to eight for three in Brisbane.
She rescued the innings alongside captain Nigar Sultana Joty, building a record 195-run partnership that took Bangladesh past the 200-run mark. It was Bangladesh women’s highest partnership for any wicket in ODIs.
Mostary reached her century off 123 balls before being bowled by Megan at 203. Joty remained unbeaten until the end, scoring 74 off 114 balls, including seven fours. Megan was the pick of the Australian bowlers, claiming four wickets.
Mostary’s innings was the third ODI century by a Bangladeshi woman. Farzana Haque became the country’s first woman to score an ODI hundred, making 107 against India in Mirpur in July 2023. She later added another century in the format.
In April 2025, Joty scored an unbeaten 101 off just 80 balls against Thailand in Lahore, setting the record for the fastest ODI century by a Bangladeshi woman.
Joty also owns Bangladesh women’s only century in T20 international cricket, scoring 113 against the Maldives at the South Asian Games in 2019.
Sharmin Akter Supta scored 130 against the United States in 2021, but the innings is counted only as a List A century because the match did not have official ODI status.
Mostary’s century adds to Bangladesh women’s growing record in international cricket. Across ODIs and T20Is, Bangladeshi women have now scored five centuries, including four in ODIs and one in T20Is.
