The government has identified two Bangladeshi nationals killed in a missile strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
The deceased were identified as Md. Shahed Ahmed, from Madla village in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogura district, and Md. Nasrullah Badrupuri, from Badarpur village in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla district.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment confirmed their identities in a statement on Sunday.
According to the ministry, a missile struck Terminal 3 of King Khalid International Airport at around 3:20 pm on Saturday, October 10, while passengers from Bangladesh and other countries were waiting at the terminal.
The incident left two Bangladeshi citizens dead, the ministry said.
Further details about the circumstances of the attack and arrangements for the repatriation of the victims’ bodies were not provided in the statement.
